I suppose I should blog something since it's been awhile. Have been pretty busy with school and getting ready for my Haiti trip. Running is going FANTASTIC and I'm really looking forward to running this trail marathon on Sunday... I decided to do a real taper this week so I have my best chance at putting in a decent finish. Last Saturday I JOGGED a half marathon, not raced. One of the local races has exploded in the last couple of years, and this year had over 9000 entrants. I got a message via Facebook earlier in the week from a good friend looking for a pacer to sun a sub 95. I thought that would be a perfect run for me, I had planned on running somewhere around 13 anyway that weekend. The run went great and he finished in 1:33:40. I felt as if I was just getting warmed up, the pace was very easy and I felt as if I could have held if for another 13, no prob... The weather over the last 2-3 days has been crappy, rainy and cold, but is suppose to be better by tomorrow through the weekend and beyond. I'll take the crosslites just in case the trail is muddy and/or wet. But if the weather (and trail)is decent, I may end up running in my Mana's.

I've got about a half dozen runs in on these bad boys... They fit like a glove, very nice. The only thing that I'm dissapointed in is the cushioning. I had hoped to wear these for my trail marathon in two weeks, but I think I'd be better off with a shoe that's a little more comfortable in the long run. These will work great in any trail conditions half marathon or under. Anything longer than that and I can see some issues with comfort... The grip in grass and dirt is tremendous, I'm really going to like these.

Yesterday I was trying to plan out my weekend running, I wanted to get in something longish but faster than what I've been running. Sunday was out for something long because I'm booked most all of the day. So the idea came to me to run the Parlor City Trot 10 miler this morning. I could run the race then tack on some extra to get in around 15-16. Last year I ran the half and finished fairly decent given I had just run PPM two weeks prior. This year I decided to run the 10 miler. Pace through the early miles was between 6:25 - 6:30, at the turnaround at 5 miles, I found myself in the lead by about 10s. The next few miles were mostly downhill so I tried pushing the pace just a tad. I gaped 2nd place by probably another 10s, so I had about a 20s cushion going into the last 3 miles (that wasn't enough). I held the lead up until the 9.8 point when 2nd place came by me sprinting to the finish. He got me by 10s. 1:05:58 was my time... Nothing blazing or close to what I ran the 10 miler in 2009, but still happy I raced. Another 5 miles warm-down post race to get in 15... BTW, it was stinkin' hot today!
