Not much to pass along...  Running is going awesome. Mileage is beginning to creep up ever so slightly and pace dropping at MAF. Running in the snow is pretty much the norm these days.  Frigid temps in the forecast, 8 degrees this morning.  Looking forward to this years Track Club banquet on the 30th.  We have Frank Shorter coming in to talk this year. Bill Rodgers last year and Frank this year...   Someone's getting there act together at the Track Club!

First "race" of the year will be the Fanny Freezer 5k on Feb. 19th.  This is primarily a benchmark for me to start the year.  I don't put a lot of pressure on myself to do well here, only to establish a baseline for the start of the year. Last year I went 19:31 and by summer was in the 17's.  One of the goals this year is to run sub 17 in a 5k, which means some short fast stuff in training this year.  A couple of goal races this year.  First there will be a new race in the spring, The Hare & Hounds XC 5k in May. In the past I've shyed away from anything that deals with trails or grass but over the last couple of years, I've found that dirt and grass is my friend and have come to accept and embrace it.  I'd also like to find a half marathon somewhere and run a sub 80.  In June I want to run the Sunburst Marathon again becuase I almost always have a good race there. Then there will be PPM in August in which I hope to wrestle back a bit of pride and humilty from last years episode.  Then I plan to find a fall marathon to finish off a good season.  I'm sure I'll find the occasional 5 and 10k to jump into but as far as goals, that's it.

I was looking at the calendar yesterday and it hit me like a ton of bricks, just a tick over 8 weeks until registration!  There will be specific goals for part deux and I'll get into them later. Let's just say they'll be more reasonable practicable this time.

Great running over the last week in some good snow.  We got 5" of white stuff on Monday which made for a good workout, especially when your the first to go through it. Ramping things back up and feeling good!

Got a bit more snow last night, went for an easy 8 around 7:15 pace this afternoon again with the Yak's.  The wind was brutal on the way out and had some good snot sicles going, after turning around and coming back, it seems like they all melted away with only some residual stuff left. Great run none the less.  Things are starting to come back around and I'm ready to get back to it.  I've gained a few pounds but that will go quickly and I'll be back to a good training weight before to long.

Nice run yesterday in some fresh snow accumulation during the day.  Put on the Yak's for the first time this year and all went well.  7 miles easy on AT.

Normally, this sad excuse for a blog gets around 6-10 views per day satisfying my overblown ego that at least someone other than my nearest relatives are tuning in to see what going on with my running.  However, my post yesterday about JM's spread in Runnners World was linked by GZ.  George's clever use of the phrase "mock's centerfold" turned my normally blase' 6-10 hits into 55.  Sorry to dissapoint, but I'm sure Mr. Mock has no intention of dropping trough in the near future (at least to my knowledge).

Easy 6 miles yesterday on Aboite trails.  I manned up yesterday and went with shorts and a long sleeve shirt in around 20 degrees.  I will never do that again, especially with the wind we had yesterday.  The legs got a bit cold but it was the arms that got it the worst.

Opened my new issue of Runners World and a couple of pages in, to my surprise, is a full two pages of Coloradoness along with a nice pic of none other than Justin Mock...
