DNF

It all started off great, at about a mile and a half in I stepped on a crack and rolled my right ankle, not bad, but it was enough to tweak something in my right hammy... It started getting progressively worse, by mile 20 it seized on me and was forced to do the walk/limp of shame. Of my 31 marathons, this is only my 2nd DNF. Gonna rest for a few days and see what happens... right now I could sleep for week!

Ack.

Sorry to hear that. The marathon is a cruel mistress. In fact when they go well, it is a very rare find.

You got that right... It's races like this always want me to pull a Geb and retire.. wait.. didn't he just...

I'm already contemplating my next one.

Situation's like this just piss me off more than anything else, I've never had one problem in the 30+ years I've been running with my hamstrings and then I step on a freaking crack that couldn't have been more than 1/2" high and bang... DAMMIT! I've rolled my ankles more times than I can count and never once did it affect my hamstring ?!?!

Yah - this age thing ... for all this supposed wisdom you gain, I'd trade in a few cups of it for a pair of 19 year old legs some days.

then again, I may only have a cup or two to give in the first place.
