All in all, things are looking up... No pain, no soreness today. This week will absolutley make or break me...

On a side note, I got my Boston bib number and check-in info in the mail last week.

Yeah... I know.. it's been awhile. I've been wallowing in my own self defeat as I've been dealing with an old familar friend called a calf strain. Two Sundays ago I was around mile 15 of a 20 miler and my calf started aching then a half mile later I was reduced to a walk/shuffle for the last 4-1/2 miles. Monday was a scheduled day off and I took tuesday off as well. Wednesday I hopped on the treadmill for an easy run and 1/2 mile into the run, the muscle twinged on me... I stopped immediately and started thinking that my chances of even running Boston were slim and none. Coach helped me go into some damage control on my brain... I took a week off and pumped in the Vitamin B, hydated extra.. extra... and used the stick twice a day on the area in question. On Wednesday of this week I hit the treadmill, crossed my fingers, and ran 4 miles easy without incident.. Thursday was an easy 3... all is good. No pain or soreness at all... I'm more confident now of at least running the marathon.. give me another week or two and I'll determine whether or not a sub 3 is still in the cards..

What a great day to run outside today!! I had a progression run on tap, 2 miles easy warm-up, then 2 @ 7:20, 3 @ 6:50, 3 @ 6:40.. Mile splits for the progression were, 7:11, 7:10, 6:46, 6:44, 6:46, 6:39, 6:29, 6:18.. No HRM for this one again, but I can you that this run felt awesome... Another great day forecasted tomorrow and another 20+ miler to tackle.. more on that tomorrow... ciao!

Great run yesterday.. 2 miles easy, progressing as I loosened. Last mile w/4 x 1' efforts at 6:58.. main set: 2 x (1m 6:40-6:45, 800 in 3:45, 2m 13:20-13:25, 800 in 3:45) The first set miles were 6:38, 6:35 and 6:33(13:08). The second set miles were 6:35, 6:29 and 6:27(12:56), elevation set at .5% for all of this. All felt very comfortable and relaxed, maybe a PE of 6-7. No HRM for these, just went by pace. The motivation seems to be back and I'm definitley feeling great... an easy one today and a progression run Saturday. Weather is starting to get a bit warmer so it will be a little easier to get outside instead of slogging on the t'mill.

Ok..It's been awhile and I'm getting complaints, so... here's an update. Everything is going great.. I'm ever progressing, ever taking that next step. This next phase of training is going to make or break me for Boston. I am starting to get tired, losing a bit of motivation (just a bit..). But still determined to do what I have to do to run a solid time. It gets tough to get up in the mornings to run since we've lost that hour of sleep now. I do have a race in another week and a half to look forward to... Something to determine where my LT is at right now. Another 20 miler this weekend will be my 7th since the begining of the year. Just a tick over 5 weeks to go...!!!

Very tired today... I've run 36 miles in the last 2 days, and... I have the option of running tomorrow (which is usually a day off for me). The way I feel now, I'll be dragging butt tomorrow.
